Description
Irish heritage variety (suitable for the ACRES scheme). Dual-purpose apple. Very attractive looking apple with greenish-yellow, flushed orange-red with red stippling. As an eating apple, sharp, crisp, with a mild flavour, sweetening and becoming less juicy as it ripens after picking; also a good baking apple. Kilkenny Pearmain is an upright, spreading tree; reliable, heavy cropper. Spur-bearer. Pick from mid-September; will ripen fully in October and keep until December. Apples need thinning in June for larger fruit. Fruit holds well on the tree.
