Halls Giant is a tree with vigorous growth and fruits abundantly. The nuts are large, conical shape with a sweet taste. Can be harvested from mid September and stored until new Year, the nuts will always taste better after being dried for 3 weeks. This variety did very well in trials in the agro-forestry research trust in south-west England and was also well recommended by Andy Wilson who trialed them in Mayo.
They will need another variety of cob nut to polinate them, Wild Hazel trees nearby will also help. They are wind pollinated and so walking through your trees and shaking branches in February will help production.
