Description
Beech is a large deciduous trees with smooth grey bark, ovate leaves colouring well in autumn, and inconspicuous flowers followed by usually spiny fruits,known as beech nuts, these are edible if peeled, this is a bit fiddly. The nuts can be pressed to make culinary oil.
Green Beech makes a fine hedge of thick greenery in summer and copper dead leaves that hold on till new leaves come in spring.
