Description
This is a beautiful tree with ‘trembling’ round leaves, native to Ireland and much of Europe and Asia and America. When planted in a medium garden it is best to keep it well pollarded, for when even the slightest breeze is blowing, every leaf on the tree will shimmer giving a constant appearance of movement. It has been a valuable forestry crop for a long time thanks to its fast growtm, and is used for matches, plywood, and paper. Also suitable for growing for firewood. This tree will produce suckers readily that can be a nuisanance in some circumstances.
